Pair a laptop with your Mac mini.

Connect your MacBook to the Mac that runs your team, so you can chat, approve and run automations from anywhere.

Your laptop doesn't run a team of its own. Once paired, it's a window onto your Mac mini: your bots, files and logins stay on the Mac mini, and the laptop shows them live.

Before you start

On the Mac mini: make a code

  1. Open Settings › Devices.
  2. Under Pair a Mac, choose Create Mac Code.
  3. The Mac shows a QR code, a short code like K7QM-4XPD and the Mac's address. Choose Copy Link to copy all of it in one go.

On the laptop: enter the code

  1. Open ReddropAI. You'll see Pair with your Mac.
  2. Paste the link into Pairing link or code. Or type the code, and type the address from the Mac mini into Address of the other Mac.
  3. Choose Pair. After a moment, the laptop shows your team.

Using your team from the laptop

Pick a space at the top, then use:

  • Needs You to answer what's waiting: Allow Once, Deny, Always Allow for This Automation, or type a reply.
  • Activity to see what's running now and what finished recently.
  • Automations to run one now, or switch it on or off.
  • Chats to talk to any bot, just like on the Mac mini.

When the laptop can't reach the Mac mini

A banner says something like "Can't reach Office Mac · last seen 5 minutes ago". You can still read the last saved copy, but buttons that would send something are greyed out until the connection is back. Hover over a greyed-out button to see why.

Check that Tailscale is on if you're away from the office, and that the Mac mini is awake. The laptop reconnects by itself.

Stop a laptop connecting

On the Mac mini, open Settings › Devices, find the laptop under Paired devices and choose Remove…. It's cut off at once. To use it again, pair it with a new code.
